SNAKE SKIN

This one needs WebGL 2, which this browser didn't offer.

The field is the snake's skin. Cut the body open along its length and lay it flat: you get a long strip, one body long and one body wide. That strip is the field. The snake moves on it, so its body is drawn on its own skin, and that body's skin is the field again.

The big coiled shape is the snake itself, head at the top left. The field scales down by the skin's width at each level. When the snake eats, it grows one segment, and its field grows by one segment's worth of skin.

It plays itself. Arrow keys, WASD or a swipe take over; autopilot hands it back. Tap to zoom in (three times), tap again to come back out, or follow the head. Version two of Snake Recursion, after a post by @words.bsky.social.
